Keller/Fort Worth area father/daughter and father/son program
You don’t have to be a member of the YMCA to reap the benefits of this program.
You may recognize it better by its former name of Indian Guides and Princesses. For more than 80 years the Indian Guides and Princesses program has offered thousands of kids and their fathers the chance to laugh, love, grow, and learn together. Father/son and father/daughter pairs meet in small groups (Circles) during the school year, roughly 10 pairs per group, to hold meetings and participate in expeditions that incorporate a variety of recreational and educational activities. The meetings are generally bi-weekly and involve storytelling, crafts, snacks, and planning for the monthly expedition where all Circles in the Fossil Federation combine to participate in an activity. The types of outings change every year but past years have included ice skating, cabin camping, tent camping, community service, laser tag and the very popular Pinewood Derby. Overall, the program is low on time commitment but very high on value return.
Not only do the father/daughter or father/son pair become close "friends forever" but each meet and make friends with their peer. We are fortunate to have a widely diverse group of dads and kids each providing something special to our federation and would love to include you!
Area residents are very fortunate to have a strong Adventure Guides program working right in our neighborhood. The Northpark YMCA at 9100 North Beach Street, 76244 is the home of the Fossil Federation. Fathers and sons\daughters from 5-12 years old are welcome and encouraged to join the program. Enrollment begins each August but you can join at any time during the year. Use the "contact us" form to be notified when the kick-off pool party is.
